It drives with nobody in it.
The Cybercab has no steering wheel and no pedals, so a passenger was never the point. Send it on its own. A hailed robotaxi will never do this, because you would be handing your things to a stranger's car.
How it works
Three families. One car. Nobody else.
One family alone leaves a car parked roughly 95% of the day. Thirty families make it a taxi again. Three is the number where the cost is shared, the car earns its keep, and it still feels like ours.

We are forming the first groups in Austin, where the robotaxi network already runs. Tell us your part of town. When a group forms near you, we will introduce you to the other families before anyone commits to anything.

Questions
The obvious ones.
Can I drive it?
No, and that is the point. The Cybercab has no steering wheel and no pedals. It is a driver, not a car you operate. That is also what lets it run errands on its own.
How many seats?
Two. Our Car handles the trips that eat a parent's day: the school run, the practice run, the errand, the airport. It is not the vehicle for a family road trip, and we will not pretend otherwise.
What if two families want it at the same time?
Groups are small on purpose. With two or three families the collisions are rare, and the app shows the schedule so you can see them coming. Your group always has priority over anyone outside it.
Who are the other families?
People near you, and you meet them first. You can also bring your own two families and take a car as a closed group. Nobody is added to your car without your group agreeing.
What does it cost?
Pricing is shared on application. It is a flat monthly membership per family with unlimited rides, and it is meaningfully less than owning, insuring and maintaining a second car.
When does it start?
Tesla opened Cybercab fleet purchasing to businesses in September 2026. Outergy is pursuing an Austin fleet of six vehicles and forming the family groups now, so the first cars are spoken for the day they arrive.
Why Austin only?
The car can only operate where driverless service is permitted, and Austin is where the network runs today. Outergy is based here. Other cities follow the regulation, not the marketing.
